Most install errors occur when the user account on the computer is not an administrative user. Try switching to a different user name with more permissions.

2.   I receive an error when installing Be Smart Kids.

Errors often happen when the program cannot find necessary files. This can happen when a user moves files from their installed location, or if the user does not have permission to access those files under the computer's security.

If you have moved any files, try putting them back in their original folder. If you do not know what files were moved, try re-installing Be Smart Kids.

Mac users
When reinstalling, chose partial install. Failure to do so will deactivate your serial number.

Windows Users
Uninstalling is not necessary for reinstall Be Smart Kids. However, if you do uninstall Be Smart Kids, do a partial uninstall.

If no files were moved, you could be experiencing a permission error. Make sure you are logged with a username with enough permissions to read and write files in the following:

3. I've downloaded Be Smart Kids and cannot get the setup
    program to install.

Occasionally the process of downloading a file fails without notification, which results in errors installing software. Try downloading the software from a computer with a reliable high speed internet connection.

Once the download is completed, you must extract the setup files out of the download file.

Mac users can simply double click on the download file. Once the files are ready, double click on the "Install Be Smart Kids" Icon.

Older versions of Windows require an extraction tool, such as winzip, to extract files. Newer versions of windows may double click on the file and select "Extract all files..." from the menu on the left. For more help, see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA011276901033.aspx

Once the files are extracted, double click on the setup.exe icon.

If your computer crashed, you received an error during activation, or you are moving the software to another computer in your home, please contact us to request an additional activation. In your request, explain why you need another activation.

8.   I have Vista running on my computer and when I load the
software the Program Compatibility Assistant pops up
when the Be Smart Kids Install completed, what should
      I do?

As you may be aware, when installing applications on a computer running Microsoft Vista, a “warning box” pops up after new software has been installed. This box asks you to “Reinstall Using Recommended Settings” or “This Program Installed Correctly”. Please click on “This Program Installed Correctly”. If you have an issue with the software after clicking this option, please contact us.

9.   Will Be Smart Kids run on Intel Macs?

Be Smart Kids is not a Universal Binary application. This means it is designed to run on Power PC processors G3, G4, and G5. We do not support installing Be Smart Kids on Intel Macs at this time and advise against it.

For the program to run on an Intel Mac, the computer uses a Mac OS X feature called Rosetta, which helps Power PC software on Intel Macs. When running Be Smart Kids with Rosetta it causes the system to run harder than necessary.

We are working to make Be Smart Kids Universal Binary, so it will run safely on any system. Until then, please install Be Smart Kids on PPC Macs only.
